Bahram Mobasher is an Iranian-born astronomer and a Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of California, Riverside (UCR). He earned his Ph.D. in Astronomy from Durham University (1988) under Richard Ellis. He specializes in observational extragalactic astronomy and cosmology, particularly the formation and evolution of galaxies. His work uses multi-wavelength surveys from large ground-based telescopes (Gemini, VLT, Subaru, Keck) and space observatories (HST, Spitzer, GALEX, Chandra). He studies galaxies in terms of star formation rates, morphology, environment, color, luminosity, and redshift.
