Mahmoud I. Hussein is the Alvah and Harriet Hovlid Professor in the Ann and H.J. Smead Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences at CU Boulder. He is a leading researcher in phononics, metamaterials, vibrations, acoustics, and nanoscale thermal transport, with courtesy appointments in Physics and Applied Mathematics. Hussein earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and has become a recognized authority in material and structural dynamics, serving as Vice President of the International Phononics Society. With more than 8,400 citations and an h-index of 38, his work has had a major impact on aerospace mechanics and advanced materials research.
