Ahmad Sadri is an Iranian-American sociologist, author, and translator. He is the James P. Gorter Professor of Islamic World Studies and also a Professor of Sociology and Anthropology at Lake Forest College. Born in Iran around 1954, he studied sociology at Tehran University before earning his M.A. and Ph.D. from the New School for Social Research in New York. His research interests include the sociology of intellectuals, religion, and politics in Iran and the Middle East, as well as reform movements in Islam and Iran. He is also known for his translations and writings on Persian literature and culture.
