Amir Zarrinpar is a Professor of Medicine at UC San Diego and head of the Zarrinpar Lab. His research focuses on the gut microbiome, circadian biology, and gut physiology, exploring how these systems interact to influence diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, cancer, infertility, and cognitive disorders. He investigates how dysfunctions at the interface of microbiome and circadian rhythms contribute to metabolic and inflammatory disorders. His lab studies the microbiome as a dynamic system, aiming to identify specific microbial functions that affect host health.
