Philip F. Kennedy is a Professor of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies at NYU’s College of Arts and Science. He specializes in Arabic literature, Islamic culture, and translation studies. Kennedy has published widely on classical and modern Arabic texts, and he is known for editing and translating works that bring Arabic literature to broader audiences. His recent project includes The Doctors’ Dinner Party, a witty satire of the medical profession, which he co‑edited and translated. At NYU, he teaches courses on Arabic literature and cultural history, contributing significantly to the study and appreciation of Middle Eastern literary traditions.
