Aslı Iğsız is an Associate Professor of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies at NYU’s College of Arts and Science. She studied in Turkey and later earned her Ph.D. in Comparative Literature at the University of Michigan. Her research focuses on nationalism, migration, memory, and cultural politics in Ottoman and Turkish contexts. She is the author of Humanism in Ruins, which examines the Greek‑Turkish population exchange. At NYU, she teaches courses on Middle Eastern culture, politics, and identity. Her work highlights how history and politics shape cultural narratives.
