DMC mosque (formerly known as Islamic Society of Delmarva) was established in 1995 by a group of brothers, including Akbar, Dawood, Haji Saleem, Hajir Abdi, Khalid Ansari, Muhammad Sheikh, Mushtaq, Ramadan, Yousuf, and many more. They discovered an old church previously used by Jehovah’s Witnesses, which was available at an affordable price. Recognizing the potential for a mosque, the brothers purchased the building and converted it into a welcoming space for Muslims to worship and connect with their faith.
Over time, DMC mosque has expanded its premises by acquiring surrounding land to accommodate the growing Muslim community in the area. The mosque also established its own graveyard for Islamic burials, providing a final resting place for Muslims in accordance with their religious beliefs.
