Fariba Zarinebaf is a Professor of History at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) and former Chair of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies. She focuses on the urban, social, legal, gender, and economic history of the Middle East and the Mediterranean world, with particular emphasis on Iran, the Ottoman Empire, and France in the early modern era. She also studies imperial borderlands in this period.
