Good Tree Academy is the first fully accredited PreK-12 Islamic school located in Collin County (North of Dallas county). Good Tree was established in 2009 in Richardson, Texas at a rented office building with 19 students through the inspiration of our beloved Imam Yusuf Ziya Kavakci of the Dallas Central Mosque in Richardson to cultivate American Muslim leaders and scholars grounded in academics as well as faith and character. An internationally renowned scholar and a dynamic thought leader in the greater Dallas faith space, Imam Yusuf had a vision to offer an accredited, high-quality core studies curriculum balanced with a rigorous Quran-centered religious studies where students would be proud of both their American and Muslim identity. The founding team of educators planned highly individualized, multi-age, hands-on, project-based classrooms. School days were divided nearly in half between core and religious studies. The number of students and quality of education consistently grew in the Richardson campus until the school was ready to move to a bigger facility. In 2013, Good Tree merged with Furqaan Academy in Collin County, north of Dallas, and moved into a much larger 15000 sq ft facility in Allen, Texas. The continued growth and success of Good Tree led to the acquisition of the current 24,000 square feet school building in Plano, Texas at the heart of Collin County from the 2017-2018 school year. Our current campus houses our Montessori style Preschool, and a traditional Elementary, Middle, and High school. The school also houses a large gymnasium for physical education, a library, an outdoor playground, a dedicated prayer room, and storage facilities.
