Katherine S. Burke is a Lecturer in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures at UCLA. She earned her Ph.D. with honors in Islamic Archaeology from the University of Chicago (2007), where her dissertation focused on archaeological contexts along the Red Sea (The Sheikh’s House at Quseir al-Qadim). Her academic background also includes an M.A. in Islamic Archaeology from Chicago and earlier training in archaeology at Oxford.
