Lila Abu-Lughod is an American anthropologist and the Joseph L. Buttenweiser Professor of Social Science at Columbia University. She specializes in ethnographic research in the Arab world, with much of her work based in Egypt. Her scholarship explores gender politics, nationalism, media, cultural forms, and the politics of memory.
