Sara Shashaani is an Associate Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at North Carolina State University. She joined NC State in 2019 after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan and earning her Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University in 2016. Her research focuses on simulation optimization, probabilistic predictive modeling, Monte Carlo methods, and machine learning applications, with projects ranging from epidemic forecasting to hurricane-induced power outage prediction. She is also an active educator, integrating her research expertise into teaching and mentoring students in systems engineering and data-driven decision-making.
