Shabnam J. Semnani is an Assistant Professor of Structural Engineering at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). She specializes in computational mechanics, geomechanics, materials science, and machine learning applications in engineering. Her research addresses critical problems in infrastructure resilience, sustainability, and natural hazards such as earthquakes and landslides. She earned her Ph.D. in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Stanford University, where she focused on modeling anisotropy and heterogeneity in geomaterials.
