Tarek El‑Ariss is a Lebanese‑American scholar, writer, and professor, currently serving as the James Wright Professor and Chair of Middle Eastern Studies at Dartmouth College. He is widely recognized for his work on modern Arabic literature, digital culture, and postcolonial theory, as well as for his memoir Water on Fire (2023), which reflects on growing up during the Lebanese Civil War.
