Ynesse (E‑Ness) Abdul‑Malak is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Colgate University, also affiliated with Global Public and Environmental Health. Born in Haiti, she immigrated to the United States at age thirteen and initially trained as a nurse in Staten Island, NY. Later, she earned a BS in Environmental Health and an MPH at the American University of Beirut, followed by a Ph.D. in Medical Sociology from Syracuse University. Her research focuses on health disparities, social determinants of health, and marginalized communities, using a life‑course perspective and multi‑method approaches.
