Zachary Lockman is a Professor of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies and History at NYU.
He researches the modern Middle East, especially Palestine/Israel and Egypt.
He wrote Contending Visions of the Middle East and Comrades and Enemies.
Earlier, he co‑authored Workers on the Nile with Joel Beinin.
His current work explores the history of area studies in U.S. academia.
